Wokini, GNR and Punks

It's a 15 square meter bar in Shibuya, Tokyo. Sometimes we randomly gather at Wokini, and everybody knows everybody. The bartenders, with whom we're familiar for awhile now, know the kind of music we like. They have a huge vinyl archive, along with a rare cd collection.

So when I was there last night at 4am, and there was a couple of friends who still had some battery, they started playing Guns 'n' Roses. Me and Rob started singing, imitating Axl's vocals and trying to wake up a passed out friend. Then Rob said he didn't know I liked (such an understatement) GNR, and he wondered why we aren't closer friends..

Well I woke up today and I know the answer. Because at this age, music doesn't have that much of an importance when it comes to friendship. [I'm correcting it: to what kind of music people listen to, doesn't have that much of an importance when it comes to friendship.]

I also don't approve the 'punk' scene in Japan casting out people who don't wear 'punk' clothes. It's so ridiculous. I bet I am more 'punk' than they'll ever be because in the first place I'm not trying to fit into a group.

Conformists...
